Job Overview
The School of Sustainable Energy and Resources (SSER) at Nanjing University (NJU), located on the Suzhou Campus, is inviting global applications for the position of "ZHICHENG" Young Professor. SSER is a prominent institution grounded in NJU’s distinguished “Double First-class” disciplines, including Physics, Geology, Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, and Mining Engineering. With robust support from the National Laboratory of Solid State Microstructures and the Frontier Science Center for Critical Earth Material Cycling, SSER is dedicated to advancing research and technology in energy and resource sustainability.
The School’s focus includes cutting-edge research in:
- Sustainable Exploitation & Utilization of Resources
- Cycling and Extraction of Key Metal Elements
- Recycling of Spent Lithium-ion Batteries
- Energy Conversion and Storage
- Energy-saving Materials and Technologies
- Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage
- Carbon Emission Control and Macroscale Modeling
We invite applications from individuals in these and related fields.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Natural Sciences, Engineering Technologies, or related fields.
- A minimum of 36 months of consecutive postdoctoral research or work experience in overseas universities, research institutions, or R&D departments of international companies, completed before March 2025. Applicants who obtained their doctoral degree abroad and have demonstrated notable achievements may have this requirement relaxed.
- Applicants must not have worked full-time in China or must have started their employment in China after January 1, 2024.
Remuneration and Support
- Title: “ZHICHENG” Young Professor
- Salary: A minimum annual salary of RMB 800,000, with additional support via the “Zijin” Scholar Grant (RMB 600,000 over 3 years) for eligible candidates.
- Subsidies:
- Chinese Government: RMB 500,000 (tax-free)
- Jiangsu Province: RMB 500,000 (tax-free)
- Suzhou Municipal Government: Up to RMB 500,000 for qualified applicants
Start-up Funding
- Government Start-up Funding: Between RMB 1 million to RMB 3 million
- NJU Start-up Funding: Minimum of RMB 2 million, with additional funds available for exceptional candidates.
- Other Funding:
- Eligible applicants can apply for the “Suzhou Innovation and Entrepreneurship Leading Talent Project” and receive an additional RMB 1 million to RMB 2 million.
- Part-time positions at Suzhou National Laboratory are available, with associated benefits.
Housing and Additional Benefits
- Housing Allowance: RMB 1.4 million to assist in purchasing lake-view apartments (approximately 140㎡).
- Office & Laboratory Space: 120㎡ provided.
- PhD Student Recruitment: Two doctoral students per year during the first term.
- Children’s Education: Opportunities for children to attend high-quality educational institutions affiliated with NJU.
- Healthcare: VIP healthcare services provided by the university hospital’s professional medical team.
