The School of Science and Engineering (SSE) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) sincerely invites applications for multiple faculty positions at the Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer levels.
Post Specification
The ideal candidates are expected to perform research and teaching in the following areas: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Optics, Computer Engineering, Integrated Circuits, Information Engineering, Robotics, Network Science, Artificial Intelligence, Financial Engineering, etc. However, strong candidates in other related areas will also be considered.
Junior candidates should have (i) a Ph.D. degree (by the time of reporting for duty) in related fields; and (ii) high potential in teaching and research. Junior appointments will usually be made on a contract basis for up to three years initially, leading to longer-term appointment or tenure later subject to review.
Candidates for the senior post (Associate and Full Professor) are expected to have demonstrated academic leadership and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and services. Exceptional appointments with tenure will be considered for candidates of proven excellence.

Salary and Fringe Benefits
Salary will be comparable to international standards, commensurate with experience and accomplishments. Appointments will be made under the establishment of CUHK-Shenzhen. Employee benefits will be provided according to the relevant labour laws of Mainland China and CUHK-Shenzhen regulations.

Over the past ten years, the University has established seven schools, namely the School of Management and Economics, the School of Science and Engineering, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the School of Data Science, the School of Music, the School of Medicine and the School of Public Policy. These seven schools, together with the Graduate School, offer 28 undergraduate programmes and 46 postgraduate programmes.
CUHK-Shenzhen adopts a college system. Seven colleges have been established, which are Shaw College, Diligentia College, Muse College, Harmonia College, Ling College, Minerva College and the Seventh College. The emblem of CUHK and CUHK-Shenzhen is the mythical Chinese phoenix (鳳) which has long been renowned as the Bird of the South ever since Han dynasty. It is a symbol of nobility, beauty, loyalty and majesty. The University colors of CUHK are purple and gold, representing dedication and loyalty, perseverance and resolution, respectively.
The motto of CUHK is 'Through learning and temperance to virtue' (博文約禮), extracted from The Analects of Confucius and long considered a principal precept of his teaching. According to the Analects, Confucius says 'The superior man, extensively studying all learning, and keeping himself under the restraint of the rules of propriety, may thus likewise not overstep what is right.' (Legge's version of The Four Books) As manifested in our motto, CUHK-Shenzhen lays equal emphasis on intellectual and moral aspects of education.
